A Slice of Life

On February 29, I was exiting the annual conference for the Texas Association for Literacy Education at an illustrious Marriott Hotel in Odessa, Texas. Still floating in the heavens from the immersion in all things reading and writing, I was skimming my social media on Twitter. I was utterly delighted to find a retweeted message from the other literacy organization I’d recently joined since moving to Centennial, Colorado – the Colorado Council of the International Reading Association. It was there that I learned of the “Slice of Life” Challenge spearheaded by twowritingteachers.org.

Among other things, this challenge invites authors, whether novice or nuanced, to blog each day during the month of March about the meaningful moments in their lives. The stage is set for them to be shared with others in thoughtful exchanges between a community of writers. I’m eagerly joining this talented group, and have dedicated this section of my blog to the enlightening endeavor. Please enjoy the daily selections. Your feedback is anticipated and welcomed.

Happy Reading! ~Carla Michelle
